Black mollies, mixed ancestrySourced
The aquarium fish is called a black molly.
Its family tree is not so simple.
Black mollies are often described as a form of one species, but early breeders crossed several kinds of molly. Fish sold under the same name can have different pedigrees. The colour is easier to identify than the ancestry.
One familiar name,
several possible lineages.
