Hello Kitty discussed wars in a newspaperSourced
A Sanrio publication let its characters talk about real conflicts.
A 2015 issue of the Strawberry Newspaper carried a pacifist message for the 70th anniversary of Japan's surrender. Hello Kitty mentioned conflicts in Afghanistan, Somalia and Ukraine, while My Melody discussed the Islamic State in Syria. The cute cast addressed serious events.
A gentle visual style can carry difficult subjects.
