One country could send several Olympic tug-of-war teams
Tug of war appeared at the Summer Olympics held between 1900 and 1920. Club teams competed, and a country could enter more than one team. Multiple medals could therefore go to teams from the same nation. The format differed from today’s usual national-team expectations.
The rope connected clubs as well as countries.
