The space cat received her name after returning
A cat designated C341 survived a French suborbital flight from Algeria on 18 October 1963. The media named her Félix; the programme changed it to the feminine Félicette. Two months later, she was euthanised for research.
The familiar name also belongs to a difficult animal-research history.
