A village made partly from rescued piecesSourced

Demolished buildings contributed to a new village

Clough Williams-Ellis built Portmeirion in Wales between 1925 and 1975. Its Mediterranean-inspired setting incorporates fragments salvaged from demolished buildings. Pieces from elsewhere became part of the new village.

The end of one building could supply the beginning of another.
