Victory versus floor strengthSourced

The victory vase was too heavy for the gallery

A marble urn originally intended for Napoleon passed to Britain after his defeat and was carved to celebrate Waterloo. A plan to place it in a Windsor Castle gallery failed because the floor could not bear the weight. It eventually became a Buckingham Palace garden ornament.

Commemoration still had to answer to structural limits.
