Padstow’s festival horses wear masks and black capes
At Padstow’s May Day festival in Cornwall, costumed hobby horses dance through town to drums and accordions. A mask and a black cape on a circular frame create their distinctive appearance. Alongside the two adult teams, children operate smaller junior horses.
A ceremonial horse need not be a four-legged replica.
