Carnivory on dry groundSourced
Drosophyllum differs from the usual wetland image
Drosophyllum grows in the western Mediterranean, including Portugal, southwestern Spain and northern Morocco. It is among the few carnivorous plants adapted to dry soil. Sweet scent attracts insects that become caught on the leaves’ mucilaginous glands.
A carnivorous plant need not live in a bog.
