A gravedigger recorded his songsSourced

A longtime gravedigger turned memories of war into an album.

Domingo Chalá spent much of his life as a gravedigger in Bojayá, Colombia, and buried victims of the 2002 massacre there. He began writing vallenato songs about that experience and the wider war, releasing his first album in 2024, including on USB drives.

A life spent burying the dead also produced songs.
