Eight prints helped define the Seven WondersSourced
The familiar Seven Wonders list grew from a series with an eighth monument.
A 1572 engraving series, Octo Mundi Miracula, presented a complete visual set of ancient wonders. Earlier classical lists varied; the images helped shape today's standard seven. The series also included the Colosseum, making eight prints in all.
The famous seven came with an extra picture.
