A second pair of eyes on the wings
The spiny flower mantis, Pseudocreobotra wahlbergi, comes from southern and eastern Africa. Adults may have green or pink colouring and prominent eyespots on the forewings. Spreading the wings makes these markings conspicuous.
Those extra-looking eyes are markings, rather than organs for seeing.
