An announcement from a balloonSourced
Sophie Blanchard carried celebration into the sky
When Napoleon’s son was born, Sophie Blanchard flew over Paris and dropped leaflets announcing the birth. She organized balloon displays for official festivals. Long before airplanes, a balloonist could supply the aerial part of a public celebration.
The sky already had its own performers.
