Lilian Bland’s aircraft needed another attempt
Eager to test the engine of her Mayfly aircraft before its tank was ready, Lilian Bland improvised with an empty whiskey bottle and an ear trumpet. That arrangement was unsuccessful. A short successful flight followed in late August 1910.
The successful craft came after an unsuccessful improvisation.
