Raising the car’s frontSourced
A drive-in experiment began with sheets between trees
In the early 1930s, Richard Hollingshead experimented with watching films from a car at his New Jersey home, using sheets between trees as a screen. He devised parking ramps that raised cars’ front ends so vehicles behind could see. His drive-in opened in New Jersey in 1933.
Rethinking cinema seats also meant rethinking the parking spaces.
