A growing collection of travel tagsSourced
The mail-train dog needed a jacket for his souvenirs
In the late nineteenth century, Owney travelled with mail bags and became a favourite of American postal workers. Post offices attached tags to his collar. As the collection grew heavier, he received a jacket to carry them; later, some tags were sent away for safekeeping.
The traveller could not carry every souvenir himself.
