Japan · Japanese meaning

Dokusenjō and dokudanjō have different characters

Japanese 独擅場 is read dokusenjō and describes a field someone can dominate. Confusion between 擅 and the stage-related 壇 produced 独壇場, read dokudanjō, which is also used as an established newer word.

A similar-looking character helped change a word’s form.
