Ancient steam powerSourced

Steam could spin a sphere two millennia ago

Around the first century CE, Hero of Alexandria described a sphere rotated by jets of steam from bent tubes. The reaction force produced motion. Evidence does not establish that ancient factories used it as a power source.

A spinning demonstration was not yet an industrial engine.
