A giant silent bellSourced
A two-hundred-tonne bell that never rang
The Tsar Bell at Moscow’s Kremlin stands about six metres tall and weighs roughly two hundred tonnes. Cast in 1735, it cracked during a later fire and lost a large section. It was never hung and rung as a working bell.
Its enormous presence comes without its intended sound.
