He acted like a game character
and found a live audience.
After a period of homelessness, Malik Ambersley began public livestreams in 2023 dressed as Miles Morales. He repeated set lines like a video-game NPC and responded to viewers' digital gifts in character. The act drew a large audience.
Playing a background character
put him in the spotlight.
Background
Who he is
Malik Ambersley, who also streams under the name Leaks World, is an American social media personality and livestreamer. Before his online career he was homeless, and during the COVID-19 pandemic he worked at a Domino's in St. Petersburg, Florida, where a clip of him smashing pizza boxes went viral.
The NPC act
From 2023 he performed as Marvel's Miles Morales on public TikTok Live streams, which earned him the nickname "NPC Miles Morales". He repeated a fixed set of lines, and when viewers paid for gifts on TikTok Live, each gift triggered a particular line, like a non-player character in a video game. Creators pretending to be NPCs had become a lucrative trend.
After the viral moment
In November 2024 he appeared during Kai Cenat's Mafiathon 2 marathon and met Shameik Moore, the voice of Miles Morales in the Spider-Verse films. By then he had more than one million TikTok followers. In December 2024 he said he wanted to move past the NPC persona and stream as himself.
