Two people started cleaningSourced
Two neighbours began picking up a beach’s accumulated rubbish
In October 2015, Mumbai lawyer Afroz Shah and his neighbour Harbansh Mathur started clearing rubbish from Versova beach themselves. Weekend cleanups drew residents, schoolchildren and actors among other volunteers. Shah also went door to door explaining the harm caused by marine litter.
A task started by two neighbours drew many more hands.
