The Japanese keepsake turned out to be a customs form

During the 1912 Stockholm Olympics, Shizo Kanakuri received help from a local family. An account of his 1967 return says the family treasured a Japanese scroll he had left in thanks. When he inspected it, he identified it as an old customs form.

An unreadable document had become a family keepsake.
