A ceremony with the seaSourced
Venice’s symbolic marriage
At Venice’s Festa della Sensa, the mayor takes the historic role of the doge and throws a ring into the lagoon. The act symbolises Venice’s marriage to the sea. A boat procession and a race also form part of the celebration.
For this city, the water is more than scenery.
