An unrealized planSourced
Their utopia still needed farming lessons
In 1794, British poets Coleridge and Southey planned an egalitarian community in America. They imagined only two or three hours of daily work, while intending to learn practical skills such as farming during the winter. Disagreements followed, and the community was never established.
Imagining a new life was easier than arranging its practical details.
